Biographic Notes
Sérgio Sousa é investigador no IA. Licenciou-se em Física/Matemática Aplicada pela Universidade do Porto em 2002/2003, tem um Mestrado pela Universidade do Porto obtido em 2003/2004 e completou o doutoramento pela Universidade do Porto em 2008/2009. Mais tarde também licenciou-se em Engenharia Informática pelo Instituto Politécnico de Engenharia do Porto em 2011/2012. É membro do IA desde 2003.

Os interesses de investigação atuais focam-se em sistemas planetários. Em particular na caracterização de estrelas com planetas detetados. Planeia trabalhar na deteção e caracterização de novos sistemas planetários. É coordenador da caracterização das estrelas a serem observadas pela a missão CHEOPS e é também membro da equipa cientifica do ESPRESSO. Desde 2018 é o representante nacional para o comité cientifico e técnico do ESO (STC) e é também membro do sub-comité ELT.

Desenvolveu e contribuiu para vários pacotes de software, entre os quais o ARES, disponível no GitHub, e o software de analyse de dados, ESPRESSO-DAS, disponível no ESO.
