Biographic Notes
Ângela is a Researcher at IA. She was awarded a first degree in Astronomy in 2010, a Master degree in Astronomy in 2012, and a PhD in Astronomy in 2017, all by Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade do Porto (Portugal). The PhD Thesis was conducted in collaboration with IA and the School of Physics and Astronomy in University of Birmingham (UK). Ângela is a member of IA since its creation with a hiatus between 2017 and 2021, when she was a postdoctoral researcher at Space Science Institute (CO, US) and later at University of Warwick (UK).

Ângela’s current research work is mainly focused on solar and stellar rotation and magnetic activity, and on how they change with stellar evolution. To that end, she investigates both low-frequency spot modulation in the stellar light curves and high-frequency acoustic modes. The light curves she uses are collected by photometric space-based satellites such as VIRGO, Kepler, K2, and TESS. Ângela also has experience on generating artificial sunspot/starspot data and light curves.
