Biographic notes
Mário J. P. F. G. Monteiro is an Associate Professor at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Faculty of Sciences of the Univeristy of Porto.
He was awarded the "Licenciatura" by the Universidade do Porto) in 1989; the M.Sc.
in Astronomy by the Queen Mary &
Westfield College, University of London (U.K.) in 1990, and the
Ph.D. also by the Queen Mary & Westfield College, University of
London (U.K.) in 1996.
Current research interests focus on the study of the internal structure of solar type stars using stellar seismology. In particular convection and convective overshoot in stars in general as well as for Sun, and the seismic determination of stellar parameters for the study of stellar evolution from the pre-main sequence up to the more advanced stages of evolution.
