Towards Other Earths III: from Solar System to Exoplanets01-05 June 2020, Lamego, PortugalProf. Michel Mayor is, without a doubt, one of the most recognizable names in exoplanet research. In 1995 Prof. Mayor discovered (with Didier Queloz) 51 Pegasi b, the first exoplanet around a Sun-like star. This discovery led to the attribution of the
Nobel Prize for Physics 2019, "for the discovery of an exoplanet orbiting a solar-type star."
He also dedicated part of his long career to the development of instrumentation capable of detecting exoplanets through radial velocity, and characterizing these planets.
Prof. Michel Mayor is an invited speaker in the conference Towards Other Earths III: from Solar System to Exoplanets, and will present a public talk about exoplanets.
