2015 will be the International Year of Light. Although details of events in Portugal are still sketchy (neither SPF nor SPA have so far taken any action on it), one may foresee enhanced opportunities for interactions with schools, and in particular requests for researchers to visit schools and give talks. This also gives us a great opportunity to raise the profile of astronomy at school level. I will briefly explain the goals of IYL, in order to encourgage CAUP members to prepare for it.
