The State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), a public and tuition-free institution located in the semi-arid region of the State of Bahia, regularly offers undergraduate and graduate courses in various fields of knowledge. In particular, we highlight the Bachelor's and Licensure degrees in Physics, which last 4 years, and the Professional Master's in Astronomy (MPAstro), which lasts 2 years. MPAstro annually welcomes teachers from Basic Education (Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, History, Geography, Philosophy, and Pedagogy) who seek an interdisciplinary education contextualized with historical, social, and contemporary aspects of science.
In this seminar, we will present the trajectory of our graduate program, which focuses on the Teaching and Dissemination of Astronomy. Started in 2013, it relies on the infrastructure (teaching, research, and outreach) of the Department of Physics and the Antares Astronomical Observatory/Antares Museum of Science and Technology. We will present an overview of the contributions built over the 12 years of the program’s existence.
