The Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) will open a call for PhD and Post-Doctoral fellowships, from 15th June to 15th July 2016. The positions are for up to 4 and 6 years, respectively for PhD and Post-Doctoral applications (tuition fees are covered in the case of PhD fellowships). The selection is done by FCT.
The Instituto de Astrofísica e Ciências do Espaço (IA) welcomes pre-applications until June 30th, 2016.
IA is the most prominent research unit in the field of Astrophysics in Portugal, assembling more than two-thirds of all active researchers working in Space Sciences in Portugal. IA is responsible for an even greater fraction of the national productivity in international ISI journals in this area. This is the scientific area with the highest relative impact factor (1.65 times above the international average) and the field with the highest average number of citations per article for Portugal.
The research and development effort at the IA includes most of the topics at the forefront of research in Astrophysics and Space Sciences, complemented by work on instrumentation and systems with potential use in Astronomy and Astrophysics.IA activities are structured around three Research Groups
It is considered strategically important for IA to be optimally placed to contribute to the development and exploitation of large projects within the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Southern Observatory (ESO), besides other international initiatives.Pre-applications should include:
For PhD candidates, applications for work programs with external co-supervision will also be welcome. For further inquires and requests of information please use the contact below or contact directly a potential supervisor in IA.
